Before design there was electronics, and after electronics, law: years of resolving disputes for construction companies, farms, and car dealers. I came to design through the industries it serves, which is why I usually arrive already speaking the client's language. These days the work is AI-native, and it doesn't stop at a handoff file; it ends in a working build. With early-stage teams the role stretches past its title: PRDs, development specs, QA passes, bug tickets. The latest of those came out of testing a client's sign-in flow and turned into a spec for how magic links should behave.
